My Voron 3D Printer

This is my Voron Trident 3D Printer. It is a homemade, very customized 3D printer, that I am trying to bring to life from an already existing design from the Voron Project. This 3D printer is a massive on going project with myself for the past year or so and I have just put the project temporarily on hold because the printer is extremely difficult to transport, very fragile, and a lot of work still needs to be done.

I started the project back when I had an office at MakeIt Labs my local makerspace. But ever since I had to get rid of it this project had become a massive problem for me to work on it hence why this project has taken over a year by now.

It uses the Octopus board by Big Tree Tech. This motherboard is one of the higher end boards to be used with the voron. It uses a stealth burner extruder which is an official Voron mod for this 3D printer. Not only that this printer uses the BMS dragonfly hotend as well for super fast extrusion.

This printer is designed by the Voron Team to be super fast, completely opensource, and very high tech. As a result I have spent over a couple thousand dollars on this project due to the fact I am self sourcing parts for this. If I had chosen to buy a kit this project would have been a lot easier for me and a lot cheaper as well.

The way this printer is designed is both motors control the printer in the x and y axis simultaneously. This results in such high speeds with the 3D printer the material physically cannot keep up with it resulting in lack of adhesion with layers at such high speeds due to the excessive cooling requirements at such high speeds and with what the material can withstand.

The reason it is a good idea to have the printer to use two motors to control the x and y axis in that type of configuration is it results in greater torque at those speeds resulting in some insane level accelerations with this type of printer. This printer can easily achieve 2000 mm/s speeds if it wanted to.

This is currently a work in progress and I hope you enjoyed this!
