So this is my new sumo robot just in time for the Sumo Robot Tournament held at MakeIt Fest this year. MakeIt Fest is a version of a maker fair held at MakeIt Labs the nashua NH makerspace.
This robot was 3D printed and I used a water jet to cut the robot’s wedge out of some 1/8″ steel plating. The robot also has a custom made circuit board shown below.

The board has room for two sonars even though only one is used on the robot. It uses a l298n motor driver chip for driving the motors and it also uses 2.5mm pin headers for interfacing with the robot. I ordered about 20 of these before the tariffs came in so that I could use these boards for future sumo bots.
The robot also uses shrouds so it can be operated outdoors for the event. Otherwise prone to interference from broad daylight.

The robot has problems seeing other robots for some reason. Has massive problems with the sonar. But overall very impressed with the design. The other robots could not deal with the robot at all when faced head on. The robot was too heavy and could just push them out of the ring no issues. Enjoy!
